THE BLESSEDNESS OF WORK.

“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it”—‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Statistics clearly show that only 23% of the entire world’s populace are engaged at work. Which means that only 23% of people enjoy what they do.

Why?

Contrary to what a lot of people think. Work was one of the blessings God gave man after creation, and not a curse after the fall.

Work in itself is a form of worship to God. But, if we are to be very frank; not as many people enjoy what they do.

The world has now been trapped in what is called…

A RAT RACE.

The average human just wants to get by. Survive. And the average human ends up living an unfulfilled life.

To beat this race, we will have to move from surviving to thriving. From chasing shadows to fulfilling purpose.

Most people see work as a “curse” for three reasons:

1). Their Work Has No PURPOSE.

A lot of people don’t enjoy their work because there’s no reason behind it, it’s not bigger than them; there’s no real intention.

Let’s be very honest here, even with purpose there are days when you get frustrated, you question your ability and you doubt if that’s what you’re supposed to be doing.

There’s a saying…

“He who has a strong WHY, can bear almost any HOW”

Well, purpose is that strong WHY.

So, purpose keeps you going when you’re doubting. It keeps you interested when everything begins to go south.

The truth is, a lot of people pick their work because it’s lucrative, and for the need for security. Work, they soon get tired of.

The correct thing to do is discover your purpose, then you’ll be able to do the work that would bring you both fulfillment and the much needed bucks. It’s a win, win.

2). The Rat Race.

As earlier mentioned, a lot of people live for paychecks and to look good on the gram.

They turn down doing work they love for something more lucrative—in their eyes. And guess what, those who chase money end up with nothing.

But as you’ll be learning…

Money is an effect. It cannot be gotten by chasing, it was made to chase you…

When you’re doing the work you were created to do. This is not a money series, but just to help you out…

Money is not just the paper currency you have. It is whatever you have that can be used for exchange (skills, energy, time).

So instead of getting yourself stuck in a rat race, beat the entire system; do the WORK you were created to do not JOB you now have.

3). Misconception of Work.

Work doesn’t always mean your job. People create Jobs around their work but a lot of people get stuck doing the work of others and they give it a fancy name—job.

Work is what you were created to do. That foundation that has been in your heart. The school you’ve always wanted to own since you were a kid.

When I talk about this I ask people one question…

“What would you do if money and every other resources was not a problem and you have a 100% chance of success”

Yes, that’s your job.

You were made to do something. But you can’t do your work when you’re stuck at a job.

But the truth is that oftentimes, the fear of failure and the need for survival clouds your judgement.

But you must be willing to bet on yourself and bet hard.

You were made to enjoy your work. If you don’t, you’re probably doing the wrong thing.

ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” Romans 12:1

Contrary to what a lot of people think, worship is more than a song. It’s any act that shows your deep respect for God, his laws and his ways.

So just because you have a beautiful voice does not mean God has ever listened to a word of the song on your lips.

Worship isn’t a song you love, it’s the current posture of God’s heart.

Worship is a heart thing. Remember Cain and Abel? Many seem to think that something was particularly wrong with Cain’s sacrifice. Abel’s sacrifice was acceptable and Cain’s was not.

Yes it was, but it wasn’t because of his sacrifice, it was because of his heart. As Paul rightly put it…

“By Faith Abel offered a more acceptable sacrifice”

So Abel’s sacrifice was accepted because he knew who he was offering it to and believed even if he couldn’t see him. On the other hand, Cain must have been thinking; “I can’t even see the person we are making this sacrifice to”. He didn’t have faith.

Let me share a little story that might hold some meaning to you…

One night due to some factors coming together, I decided that I was going to stream service from my room the next morning. It was very unlike me, but it was what I firmly decided to do.

Woke up the next morning much later than I would on a Sunday morning, but something happened...

Just after I said Amen to my morning prayers, I was going to my friend’s place to get my power banks so I could come back and stream the service online. As I was on my way there, I heard the Holy Spirit say very clearly to me “Great, go to church“.

Ahh, I didn’t get it...the bus would be here in 30 mins, and the funny thing is I didn’t even indicate that I was going to church that day, so there was certainly not going to be space on that bus for me. But I know enough not to argue with the Holy Spirit.

So I walked briskly to my friend’s place and then he told me he made arrangements for two seats on that bus and the person he invited wasn’t coming anymore. Guys, I knew that was my cue to go to church; I ran back to my place, as fast as I could.

I took my bath and got dressed in record time, dashed out to the road and got there a few minutes before the bus arrived. As I was on that bus, I was still wondering why the Holy Spirit prompted me like that.

On my way to church, I plugged into a sermon where my pastor, Pastor Ayo Ajani was talking about worship and he spoke about how Abraham being willing to sacrifice his only son was an act of worship that opened his eyes to the lamb that was always there.

He said, it is in worship that we see. On getting to church, the moment the worship began; the Holy Spirit began to answer the questions I had in my heart for the past two months.

It didn’t stop there, it would also seem that every part of that sermon was for me. At some point, the pastor walked and pointed to where I was and dropped a prophetic word. Of course there were others sitting there, but I knew that particular one was directed at me.

I thought to myself after the service, “So one disobedience would have cost me this much“. Is streaming online bad? No it’s not. But, it is not as profitable. Because it is where two or three are gathered in his name that he comes.

Plus, iron cannot sharpen iron in your room, there’s just something about that cooperate anointing. So unless you absolutely can’t, go to church.

Learnt three things from this experience:

1. Worship is not a song, worship is an act of deep respect. Anything you do that puts God before anything else including yourself is worship.

2. There’s a place in the spirit where all your questions are answered, and all your needs are met; but your worship is the vehicle to getting there. Peter giving his boat to Jesus was an act of worship, and what followed? A river that had no fish produced fish enough to sink two boats.

3. Every time you choose to go to church on a Sunday morning, you are telling God…

“I know that I could be doing a million things this morning, and I could equally stream service online, but I respect you enough to sacrifice this time, energy and resource to go to your house”.

It’s an act of your worship to him, and that’s more powerful than any song you could ever sing to him.

So, the next time you want to offer acceptable worship to God; make sure that your heart is completely consecrated to God and to nothing else.

The posture of your heart shows in your devotion to him daily.

FRIEND OR FOE.

Life is fair and balanced in that it presents everyone with a chance at greatness.

Let’s be frank, not everyone would have a direct go at being great—in that sense. All the stars don’t shine with equal brightness.

Some, more than others, were made to shine brighter.

But like Solomon, I have observed under the sun…

Sometimes greatness is forged from alliances.

Christiano Ronaldo (the famous football star)—CR7 as he is called, told a very interesting story…

The football training academy where he was, hosted two stars, CR7 and some other guy whose name I can’t really remember.

Scouts came, and they were only going to pick just one of the two stars at the time, and they were going to pick based on the number of goals.

Both dudes were on the same number of goals at the time. So the final match was going to decide who got picked…

In that game, in the dire minutes of the game; on the final piece of play in the match, the other dude was through on goal after dribbling past the defense and the goal keeper…

While everyone expected him to score, he looked to his side and passed to Ronaldo. A real shock to onlookers.

After the game, he was asked why he did it, and his response has had me thinking for a couple years now…

He said, even though it looked like he is more talented now, Ronaldo had a brighter future and looked destined for greatness.

Ronaldo was picked and went on to become arguably the greatest footballer in the entire history of the earth.

That dude on the other hand, is still being heavily compensated for his selflessness—Ronaldo himself confirmed that.

He chose alliance over competition. There are not many people who can do that. But here’s the truth nobody talks about…

Whether or not he passed to Ronaldo, he would have found his way out to being who he is still; it would probably just have been a different path.

But that dude would have lost his chance at the global status he now has. Because not long after that act, he sustained an injury that meant he couldn’t play professionally anymore.

His recognition and partnership with greatness made him great too. I’ll repeat…

Stars don’t all shine with the same intensity.

Everyone is destined for greatness, but for some; your greatness would come through alliances and partnerships with the ones who are born great.

Remember David and Jonathan?

Do you know how it feels to know that despite being the crowned prince, you were not going to sit on the throne because of the sins of your father?

But guess what? Jonathan didn’t care. He knew nothing, not even if he rebelled would stop David from being King, because that was his destiny.

So he chose alliance. In fact the bible clearly states that they were inseparable. It’s sad that he later died following his father Saul—blood is thicker than water they say.

Saul would have chosen to partner with David and he wouldn’t have died, and David would have rewarded him greatly. In fact he would have served as a mentor to David. David didn’t even want to touch his garment, talkless of killing him. He respected him.

But Saul chose competition over alliance.

The same happened between Joseph and his brothers. They despised him because his dream indicated he had a greater destiny than they did.

Little did they know that he was also their saviour. Thank God he forgave them, or else they would have died of hunger. Instead they lived like kings in Egypt.

Like William Shakespeare rightly said in his play…

“Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them”

Some people, if they are to be great; must have it thrust upon them.

Some stars are there to compliment the brightness of others. They find their relevance in helping another star shine brighter. It’s the way it is.

But guess what? They are all still stars. But to shine that brightly, they must join themselves with another—its called a constellation.

The mighty men of David only became great and famous because they aligned with a man—David.

Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego only became rulers in Babylon because Daniel was so great he put in a good word to the king for them. They shined because they stayed and chose to partner with him.

But often times, alliances are despised out of envy, and pride; or the belief that “we were all cut out from the same cloth”

Find out if you were born great, have it in you to achieve greatness…

Or are to have greatness vested upon you. Don’t let pride, dishonor, envy, familiarity stop you from the corridors of greatness.

Whether or not you choose alliance over competition doesn’t stop the person from being great, it only robs you of your own greatness.

As a very good practice for myself, I have chosen to partner with and honour greatness when I see it. I mean, who knows?

I can only show you, it’s left for you to pick up your cues from this.

Like they always say…

A word is enough for the wise.

Double-edged Swords

“It is not God’s will that you remain hidden”

Let’s start by breaking the legs of the table you’re standing on.

There’s a lot of apathy towards fame and influence because 99% of the world’s population does not know how to wield it.

Fame and influence are double-edged Swords. It’s either you “kill” with it, or it “kills” you. Simple!

And the truth…

The raw truth nobody likes to talk about,

Is that you cannot fulfill purpose and actualize destiny if you don’t know how to use these weapons of war.

Because the world runs on the capital of perception. You are rewarded and drive results based on the perception people have about you. It’s that simple!

Dangote, Otedola, Joshua Selman, Elon Musk, Donald Trump, all these men are intentionally playing a perception game.

There’s a way they talk, and don’t talk that makes them who they are and drives the kind of results they get.

I discovered that the first thing God did when Jesus was ready to start his ministry was to announce him.

“This is my beloved son…”

Why did he not say, “Jesus, oya it’s time; go and start”

In fact Jesus’ fame and influence game was so strong that, as a child they had to get him out of town to Egypt to lay low for a while, because his fame and influence had already reached King Herod.

Like, a baby who couldn’t speak had already gained enough influence to attract Kings.

God made sure he had a star that indicated his presence when he was born, much so that wise men came to a baby bearing expensive gifts.

Let me even take your mind somewhere it probably hadn’t gone to…

God spent about 4,000 years from Genesis to John the Baptist announcing Jesus.

Like all the law and Prophets, and every book before Jesus himself was for one purpose…

That Jesus became famous and well known. And guess what?

As Christians we are tasked with the sole duty of spreading his name abroad. Like that’s what Christianity is all about.

So tell me…

Do you still think God doesn’t endorse fame?

If you think it’s just Jesus, think about why the first announcement God made about David was killing Goliath in front of the whole Israel.

Or why God would place Joseph where he did.

A lot of people are scared, and I get it. But don’t use God as an excuse to remain small and dim your light.

We are to be the light of the world. What does light do?

It shines so all can see it. Master your light before you shine, that’s the trick.

And make sure your motives are pure and holy and that your fame and influence brings glory to his name and he will multiply it.

You were made to be famous. You were made to be influential.

You are a king. Kings don’t hide, they model. Act like one!

Here’s a little something to act on…

What’s that thing you know in your heart that you were born to do but you’re scared of being seen and famous.

Or you’re scared that God would be angry that people know you, lol.

This is your cue to go and start doing that thing now. Like now!

This is someone’s sign to act now!

Whatever industry or space you play in, you need to shine the brightest. You give God glory when you do.

He’s like “That’s my girl” “That’s my boy”

Question, when God needs someone to stand in a gap on the earth; can he trust you to do it?

Because sometimes that could mean sending you to Pharoah even when you badly want to remain in Midian.

It could mean asking you to speak to a crowd even when he knows you stammer.

A lot has been said about fame and influence that has crippled a lot of christians. I have come with your key…

Go and shine. Because as you do, you give others the permission to do the same.

Can’t wait to pass you a glass of wine on the table of greatness🥂.

I think that we are all traumatized…

I’m not talking about the usual trauma caused by negative circumstances we know about.

Growing up, we all went to schools where at the end of the term or school year, three individuals are made to stand on the podium and awarded.

And the crazy part is, there can only be three, everybody else has to cheer them on.

This has created the idea that…

Greatness and success has limited slots.

It’s a wiring that one way or the other we have all had. As long as you live in this world.

There’s nothing wrong with the system honestly…there’s just everything wrong with how we interpret it.

So we are constantly alarmed when someone succeeds, especially in the area we crave for success, as if to say…

One limited slot is gone.

But is that really the case? Is the table of greatness already almost filled?

And for some, it manifests as that excessive push to “make it”, like if they don’t someone else would beat them to it and they would never succeed.

So we have people chasing when they should build, envying when they should honour, and settling when they should aim for the skies.

Stories…

David chose to spare Saul’s life even though he was also anointed and Saul was going to kill him.

David wasn’t insecure. He knew if he was meant to be King, he would be King; he did not have to kill the King.

Did he eventually get to the throne? Oh yes he did.

Daniel once did something for one of the kings of Babylon, and he was going to receive honour and be placed in a very high position in the kingdom.

But guess what?

He instead asked the King to put his three friends at those positions of influence, he was comfortable at the gate.

The funny thing is, the next time the king needed help; they went looking for Daniel at the gate. His greatness was still intact even in the presence of other great men.

Think about the boy Joseph…

He interpreted the dreams of the king’s servants knowing fully well that he himself wanted in on palace duties.

He wasn’t insecure. In fact he wanted to be recommended.

And that’s it. There’s something successful people know and that’s partnership over competition.

In contrast, if you think about the story of Cain and Abel…

The sacrifice of Abel was accepted and that of Cain was not. But you know what God didn’t say?

There was no place God said he couldn’t accept both sacrifices, if only Cain did what was right.

Cain chose competition over collaboration. He simply could have asked Abel what made his sacrifice acceptable too and that would have solved his problem. But he instead chose to kill his brother.

Lastly, do you remember how Joseph’s brothers sold him to slavery?

In fact if we backtrack the story a bit, they were gonna kill him. Like, eliminate him. The same person who was destined to keep them from dying during the great famine.

Guess what? He wasn’t even listed in the twelve tribes of Israel. They were just as great as he was, maybe even greater but they couldn’t see because they were blinded by competition.

I leave you with these words and a principle to follow…

The table of greatness and success has no limited slots.
And as is popularly said…
“The sky is huge enough for every bird to fly”

So here’s a very powerful law…

The next time you see someone with the kind of success you want, celebrate and honour them—especially if they are your friends and family members. It opens the door to you too.

Although we have been wired with the idea that only “3” people make the podium to be awarded, it’s quite different in life.

The table of greatness and success is always adding more seats. The question…

The real question…

Is that, are you going to be seated there?

Or would you let the greatness of others or envy stop you.

As a general rule for my life, I celebrate great men; but I don’t because of that undermine my own greatness.

So I ask the question again…

Are you going to be seated there?

The Gift Nobody Wants.

King David was a very powerful king. The finest there is, as far as I’m concerned.

He wasn’t just a great king, he raised a great king in Solomon. You know what it means to birth and raise the wisest king that ever lived?

Amongst all the conquests of King David, there’s one I find most fascinating…

It’s how he used just ONE stone to kill Goliath…that ten feet tall giant fell like a pack of cards, lol. Just one shot, and down he went.

I mean, how do you charge at a giant who terrorized a whole Israelite army with a King (Saul) for forty days with a sling?

David was obviously possessed. What else could have made him so confident? He had a courage that wasn’t human to be honest.

Yeah, he conquered territories and nations later…but you see that battle with Goliath—legendary. No wonder it’s the first thing anyone ever hears about David—Mighty giant slayer.

But what birthed what I call…THE WISDOM OF THE SLING?

It was pain—extreame pain and process.

God knows how many times David wanted out of the bush. He was out there in the bush, tending sheep. He must have been thinking, that was what he’d do all his life.

How do I know? Read his Psalms.

David must have killed the lion and the bear he spoke about with a sling; no wonder he was so sure he wasn’t going to miss Goliath’s forehead. PROCESS taught him that.

Can you imagine? Sending David to the bush to experience pain and go through the process was God’s answer to his prayers.

I can imagine David crying to God,

“Lord increase me”, and God was like…
“That’s what I’m doing David”. Right here in this bush is where kings are made.

Remember brother Joe? Sorry, I mean Joseph. After he had that dream of him being on top of the world that made his brothers so jealous that they plotted to kill him and eventually sold him out…

He went through slavery and was even a prisoner where he had to chance to sharpen his dream interpreting skills.

Bro, stood before Pharaoh and must have been like…“Pharaoh your own no hard self”. Interpreting the king’s dream was easy peasy.

The pain and process he went through was preparation for when the king would call him. Because when it comes to kings, there are no second chances, no learning on the job, and no trial and error…

It’s either you can or cannot, simple!

Even your Lord and Savior wasn’t given a name higher than any other name because he was the son of God.

He went through it. He was so burdened by his pain and process that he even wanted to give up all together.

“Oh, but for the joy that was set before him; he endured the cross…”

Listen…

There’s a kind of wisdom, skill and depth that only PAIN and PROCESS can bring. It does not come by impartation, neither is it gotten from much learning or any book.

Among the many gifts that God can give you, one of the most precious ones is the gift of pain and process.

For every one who desires to be great, the first blessings God gives you are these…PAIN and PROCESS.

Remember, James and John; the disciples of Jesus, when they wanted to sit with Jesus on his throne?

The first question to them was…

“Are you ready to drink from my cup…” Meaning are you ready to partake of my suffering.

Never forget on your journey in life and destiny to never loose sight of your “joy” as you experience pain and go through process.

Because indeed, even in God’s Kingdom; there is no GAIN without PAIN.

The excuses of the multi-talented.

Five years old Ben had trouble picking what colour of Samurai ranger he wanted to be. He and his friends had just binge watched an entire series of the Samurai power rangers…

As kids, of course they believed everything was possible. So, they naturally decided to recreate the entire movie during their play time. Now, each of them was required to pick the colour of the Samurai ranger they wanted to be. To them, it wasn’t an act…they believed that whatever they chose, they had the power to become.

And since Ben’s mom bought them the series and made her home open and comfortable for them to enjoy the latest series in town, it was only fair that Ben gets to choose first. “Ben…” they called out. “What colour do you pick?…” Ben was now frozen in thoughts. For a moment there, he thought he knew who he wanted to be, at least he thought he had analyzed the situation and judged based on his personality; who he was going to pick.

But the moment it was time to decide, he wasn’t sure anymore. They all seemed like a good fit. He had it in him to be anyone of these guys, he thought. Since he couldn’t bring himself to choose, he decided to let his friends choose first; he was just going to pick whatever character was left.

Ben didn’t really enjoy the time with his friends because he kept looking at the possibility of being different things. He thought to himself, “If only I could be all of them…“ At the time, he never saw anything wrong with how he felt; of course he was too young to see how this could affect him. Come to think of it, no one even noticed; not even his mum.

Now in fifth grade, Ben was a genius in his class. He excelled at almost everything. What he wasn’t good at, was because he never had the time to try, or so he thought. Was there anything that Ben couldn’t do? If there was, he at least did it better than his peers. He was great at music, arts, science, dance, acting, and every other thing that was available to try. It got to the point that no one ever asked if Ben was capable of doing something, they just gave him the chance and watched him do it. The result? Ben would excel of course.

At this point, Ben was asked by his teacher what school club he wanted to be part of. The other kids didn’t get to decide, they were placed based on their skill sets and passions; but Ben wasn’t just any other Kid…He was Ben—the kid who could do anything. So in confusion, the teacher asked Ben to make the decision by the next morning. Ben was equally as confused, but at least this time he had the luxury of an entire night to decide and was determined to find out which club he was truly cut out for.

Ben ran home thinking, “ I would ask mother, she would know…” On getting home, after exchanging pleasantries; Ben threw the question straight at his mum. Equally as confused as he and his teacher was, she said “Ben, you already know you would do great at just anything you choose, right?” She walked away. Ben was even more confused now, and spent the entire night thinking about what he would choose.

Again, after an entire night of thoughts; Ben still couldn’t decide. He didn’t sleep, but still wasn’t able to decide. So, on his way to school, he decided that he was going to ask his teacher to allow him the luxury of trying out all the clubs they had available. According to him, he was going to find out which one he was truly cut out for by seeing which one he excelled at and which one he failed at. What Ben didn’t realize was that he never really failed at anything; as long as he gave his best. It was going to be impossible to decide now.

On getting to school, he told the teacher his idea and of course the teacher agreed. So his tryout started, and after a while of being good at it all; he just resolved to juggle between the clubs as he wished. It wasn’t still a problem at this point, everyone thought—Ben would always make it work if he wanted it to.

Ben was now done with high school, it was time to get a degree. Just before high school though, he spent weeks trying to figure out if he was cut out for science or the arts. This time, there was no way he could juggle, he had to really decide. He eventually did choose science because that’s what all the other smart kids chose. What Ben didn’t realize was that he wasn’t “all the other smart kids…” of course, he wasn’t still going to fail, his genius wouldn’t let him…but was that what he was truly cut out for?

It didn’t matter now, it was time to decide which career path he wanted to take. By this time, he had fully formed a mindset that gave him the illusion that he was going to be just as great in anything he chose to do. Why settle, when I can do it all? he would always ask himself. So, determined to be many things all at once, he finally chose a career path but kept a keen eye on several others. At first, it felt like a good idea, a wise idea infact. But as the years passed, he suffered from it…

He moved from one industry to another, never determined to make anything work; he also never gave any path his full attention. Because his eyes were on many paths all at once, he was not really focused on anything. He would fail, and instead of giving it another go, he would venture into something entirely new, because he thought; if this doesn’t work, something else certainly will. This wasn’t playtime anymore, it wasn’t a decision on what character to choose, which school club to join or even whether he was cut out for science or art. It was life—the real one.

While his peers were at the top of their various industries, he was lost switching between different paths. He was never great at anything. How he handled the idea of being “multi-talented” was his disadvantage. It was his inertia. It stopped him from reaching the very peak of his potential. A once very bright kid, who was good at everything was now not great at anything.

I believe that a man can be good at many things, but can only be truly great at one thing. Better to be great at one thing than it is to be good at many things. And as a popular quote would say, “You don’t need to be good at many things, you need to be great at one”.

The idea of being multi-talented has stopped a lot of people from accessing their inner greatness. Just imagine Micheal Faraday thinking after trying for a while that he was better off playing baseball just because he was good at it. We probably would know nothing about him. And the credit for his discoveries? Of course, someone else would have discovered them and gotten credit for them too.

Jesus was probably so good at carpentry, plus there were many other things he could have chosen to do with his life. He could have even made a lot of money fishing, lol. No one would have stopped him. But he chose one path, being the saviour of the world was what mattered most to him—it was his customized path to greatness. He chose to be a fisher of men. He became famous for sticking to one path, even though multi-talented.

Think about it for a second. Think about everyone you admire and look up to. People you hope to be like. You adore them so much because of that singular path they have chosen to take, don’t you? Being “multi-talented” is not bad, and it can also be an advantage if you choose to let it be. But first, you must find your ultimate path. That one thing you want to be, that one dream that you hope to fulfil above all others. That one talent you can feel is a chance at greatness, trust me; you already know it. You’re only just scared that you’ll fail at it, and keeping all other options open is your backup plan.

But you must be determined to make that path work, no matter the cost. Use your other talents to make it work. If you look closely you’ll observe that all the other talents you think you have were given to make that “one” talent work—to reinforce it, compliment it and make it stronger.

You might be good at a lot of things, but you’re only cut out to be great at one thing. Find it, focus on it and don’t stop until you make it work—until you’re great at it.

I observed one of my youngest cousins recently, and just as I was laughing, it hit me…

I was once there. At that very phase, and I was just as confused as he is—maybe even more.

Here’s what happened…

My cousin was trying to do the handwriting assignment he was given at school. Quite honestly, if you ask me, I see why handwriting is a very important part of our educational foundation. That boy needs it, I needed it too; the funny thing is that some of us still need it, lol.

But here’s the real gist, yeah.

His handwriting was bad, I’m not gonna lie—Very bad. His older siblings were laughing too. And we kept wondering why he was finding it difficult to just write what he was seeing. I mean that’s the easiest it can ever be right?

But the truth is, he’s just starting to find his footing and just like we are also probably struggling with that Math equation, he is struggling too. For where he’s at, that’s his own huddle; no matter how simple it may appear to us.

Okay, this is the part where you focus right now…

For anyone trying so hard to build anything from scratch, and by scratch I mean from the foundations, you must be willing to look dumb while you learn and grow.

The results of others can be very loud and distracting especially in the digital age that we live in. So if you’re building something, you’ve got to be comfortable being in the skin of a learner. And you know what?

Learners fail. Then they learn from it and grow from there. So this is to that visionary and founder who feels like a failure from the standpoint of the results of others—YOU ARE BUILDING SOMETHING DIFFERENT, AND IT TAKES TIME TO BUILD.

Let the world look down on you, doubt your potential and mock you, it’s all part of the process.

For you reading this right now, I have just one question…

Do you have the humility it takes to build the life of your dreams from the ground up?

Is Success Really A Mirage?

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27.

Man or woman. Tall or short. Christian, Muslim, Hindu or whatever.

Every human on the surface of the earth wakes up and for some, sleep very late in the night for one thing—SUCCESS. Whatever their definition of it is.

On my way out today, I just observed the human life around me. So much motion was happening. People are moving all over the place. Students going or coming back from school, the market was full of people buying and selling, and when I truly looked; I noticed that every activity was geared towards one thing—success, or the illusion of it.

Isn’t life itself a market place? Aren’t we all traders on this earth? But the real question, the question everyone seems to have different answers to, the question that keeps people up at night and awake before the cock crows remains—What truly is success?

For the market woman, it means making more profit than she did the previous day. For the sales agent, it is hitting a sales target, maybe for a promotion or pay raise, and for the student; it could mean graduating top of the class or at least surviving the next test.

Whatever your definition of success is, one thing seems to be common amongst all humans and this is it…

We never get tired of this pursuit. Success seems to me like a race that has no finish line—at least not in this lifetime. Because it doesn’t matter what drive, motive or motivation you have, we all never seem to stop.

Here’s a little story for more meaning…

A couple years back, I started actively building on social media. And at first getting five hundred followers was a milestone, I even gave myself an applause for every fifty. I had friends who were also at my level, starting too and some higher than me; they made the journey easier.

But the moment I hit what I thought was a milestone, I wanted more. It just didn’t feel as great as I thought it would. For something I thought would make me feel like a success, feeling like a failure wasn’t part of the plan.

I set out to get a thousand, and by the time I was able to get five thousand; I noticed the trend—it was never going to end. It was then clear to me that it doesn’t matter how many followers I got, it was never going to be enough to make me feel successful.

We all have that one goal in mind that we think if we hit, would make us feel like we have finally got it—the pursuit can end now. Say you could snap your fingers and make it happen, I bet you wouldn’t feel any different than you do right now.

Have you ever wondered why the most successful people in the world are the most depressed? Ever wondered why Elon Musk would not stop building? Or why Dangote still wants some other refinery somewhere in Africa? It’s the pursuit of something that never ends on this side of eternity.

Now, what’s the point of saying all of these? Listen to what Jesus had to say…

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

The above statement indicates that the World also has its gifts—trouble and fear. Like Solomon wisely described our pursuits on the earth…

“There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a sore travail.” Ecclesiastes 4:8

Here’s another version…

“This is the case of a man who is all alone, without a child or a brother, yet who works hard to gain as much wealth as he can. But then he asks himself, “Who am I working for? Why am I giving up so much pleasure now?” It is all so meaningless and depressing.”

Whatever your pursuit of success is all about, know that it is not worth loosing your peace over. Because to much toiling there is no end, no matter who you are.

Don’t wait until you smash goals to be happy. Or until you buy whatever to celebrate. Because true joy or peace doesn’t come from things—they come from HIM.

If you find HIM, it doesn’t matter what you think you don’t have. You have got everything.

The First Time I Hit Record...

“There can only be one of everyone of us, stop trying to be someone else; the world has that already, what we don’t have is YOU”.

Started with that quote because I’m about to tell a really interesting story…

So, it was 2023 and after much pressure from my online audience (Probably got tired of always reading from me and wanted to connect with me in a different way, lol) and friends who were genuinely rooting for me, I decided to record a video.

The final straw came when I attended a mindshifting event with my friend who by the way already had a ton of videos on her profile—she was already so good at it. She encouraged me to record as it was a great way to connect with my audience and build faster.

Damn, it was going to be my first video. Yes you guessed right—i had not a single idea of what I was doing. So here’s what I did…

I went to my friend’s profile, watched a few of her videos and wrote a script befitting of her style—that was just a cute way of saying I copied her style precisely. Wait, don’t judge me yet guys.

How did it go? Haha, you really want to know; don’t you?

Well, it was a huge success. At least in the eyes of the world. My audience absolutely loved hearing my voice, and seeing me was refreshing.

I got comments like…”I love your voice”, “I didn’t know you had such a deep voice”, “I love how confident you sounded and the thoughts you communicated”...

Of course, all that was paraphrased; but here is my point. Although I had copied someone else’s style, the video retained some parts that made me—ME.

My voice, confidence, the depth of thoughts—all that was me. And guess what? Those were the things that got the applause from my audience. It got me thinking…

What if, I actually did it my own way? Like, what if; the video had 100% of me? It would have been sensational. They had no idea what happened behind the scenes, but I did.

That experience taught me a very important lesson. Your people are only interested in seeing you, not the hundred people you try to copy everyday.

In a world where artificial intelligence has taken over human voices, there is so much noise but no real impact. No matter how talented AI is, it has no ability to touch a heart.

Say whatever you want, but the people who would stand out going forward, are the ones who would dare to be themselves.

Think about it, even Jesus refused to follow the trend of the pharisees. He ate and dined with tax collectors and sinners, much to disdain of the self-righteous pharisees.

Real change and social impact can only be caused by real people who would be confident enough to let their authentic voices become loud enough to stir the waters of thick darkness on the earth.

Did I say not to use AI? of course not, I use it too. But do not loose your authenticity to another man’s creation—his way of expressing himself. We need to hear you too.

Ai is wisdom from God. The devil has no power to create, but he does often corrupt creation. It is one of his numerous ploys to stop human domination on the earth. And the answer to this is simple—Let your light shine.

Not AI’s light, not someone else’s light—your own light.

IF NOT OUR LIGHT, THEN ITS OUR DARKNESS…

As Marianne Williamson rightly put it in her poem, “AS WE LET OUR OWN LIGHT SHINE, WE UNCONCIOUSLY GIVE OTHER PEOPLE THE PERMISSION TO DO THE SAME”.

For the past week, I have been unable to sleep any earlier than 1AM. Every time I close my eyes, I feel the pain of a thousand lost souls. I’m not trying to make this story spicy by exaggerating.

Even though I could not explain it earlier, it is all starting to make sense now. I am getting burdened by the pain of my “own people”, my tribe. The other afternoon, I tried to sleep but my mind was so active, it almost felt like I was awake.

Reading this right now, I’m sure that you can relate to this, even though your experience might not have been like mine. Have you ever felt like if you didn’t do something quickly, there are people who would be affected?

It’s the cry of purpose, the cry of your own people asking God when their answer would come. Guess what? For every tear they shed God keeps wondering where the “deliverer” he sent is. He keeps wondering why the tears linger, knowing that the SOLUTION was already sent.

Remember Moses?

Even though God’s children were due to leave Egypt after 400 years of captivity and pain, they remained there for thirty more years because one man wasn’t ready. Because the light he sent has refused to shine.

You get it? God wasn’t holding back their deliverance, Moses was. His refusal to live out his potential kept people stuck from living out theirs too.

I need you to understand that you are the light that gives your own people the permission to shine. When God thought about the deliverance of certain people, he sent you into the world. Why have you chosen to leave them in tears?

Who lights a lamp and hides it? Certainly not God. If there is any hiding, it is you who is doing it, by refusing to let your light shine.

Here is the paradox…

If it’s not your light that you let shine, then it is your darkness that will shine. Refusing to shine your light contributes to the already thick volume of darkness in this world.

You can’t be on the fence. It’s either you are hot or cold, lighting or darkening. Don’t help propagate the kingdom of darkness by your inactions.

Arise and shine, oh light of the world.

Faith. Substance. Things.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.“—‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭KJV‬

It is first Faith, then substance and then things. That is how it is with God. But guess what? A Lot of us have it all messed up in our heads, and that’s because the world does not teach us to live like that.

I remember one time when I wanted a new football from my mum, because the old one was so exhausted, it begged me to put it away; lol. My point is, I didn’t believe her because she had a track record of saying “okay, great; i’ll get it for you…” and then ended up not getting it.

Not because she really wanted to promise and then fail, but because she knew that it was the only way to get me off her back. This particular time though, she did keep to her word; she got me my new ball. It was then I believed her words—after she had gotten me the THING she promised.

But you see, that’s not how it works with God, that’s not how it works on Earth, and that certainly isn’t how it works with life either. “Hey, why does this principle of Faith even matter?” That’s what someone’s asking. Good question!

The answer? Because that’s exactly how the world was framed—by Faith. That was how God built the world you live in, that’s how he built you. So if you must really win, then you have to win by Faith; life only responds to acts of Faith.

To live the life of your dreams, you don’t begin to believe when you see; you believe then you see. In other words, faith gives substance to things, and produces the evidence of things you have not yet physically seen but have substantiated through faith.

Read that again!

God still calls those things that be not as though they were, and if he created you in his spitting image; you can and should too. So the next time life throws you a curved ball, reply with Faith and substantiate the very thing that you want to see.

The way it always works is that you believe in your heart that which God has said about you, which would prompt you to call forth what you want to see; and then you shall have it.

Don’t settle for just anything, call forth by Faith and you shall have it.

THE BEAUTY OF SUNSET…

One, two…click. The familiar sound that greets the closing of the day. Everyone wants a moment with the most beautiful time of the day. A picture everyone wants to have.

There seems to be something about sunsets that connects deeply with our being. It feels like nature whispering its last song of the day, with a soft yet attractive promise that even endings can be beautiful.

That a happy ever after is not just a fairy tale, but a possibility so true; nature chooses to paint a picture, a vision impossible to ignore at the end of every day.

The sunset holds up a canvas of exhilarating burning gold, ravaging a once plain blue sky; filling everyone who chooses to behold with peace and hope—TOMORROW CAN BE THE DAY ALL OF YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE.

Before the sunset is a day ravished with noise so deafening, we fail to hear the whispers of hope from our souls. I love sunsets, because they remind me of God’s promises. That, it doesn’t matter what failures plague me during the day; there is always hope for a glorious and beautiful ending.

Living in a world that gratifies instant, and early success. A world where everyone is expected to make their first million at 20, and starting a company at 60 is considered too late. A world that detests the law of process, and rewards actions over becoming; we often tend to forget that not all seeds were meant to bloom early.

We forget that some seeds need to take deeper roots, and some need a longer time to sprout. Some need more tending and others more soil. It all depends. But the sunset is God’s reminder that delay is not denial, and being a late harvest can be even more sensational and profitable.

This is not in any way to endorse laziness and unproductivity. This is to that one person who has toiled all day and has caught nothing. The light is always at the end of a dark tunnel, and beauty at sunset.

That’s what keeps me hoping everyday…
